Murray Golf House at The New Bobby Jones Golf Course

Jim Chapman of Chapman Design Studio served as the Clubhouse and surrounds Master Planner as well as Architect for this unique project.

Sited in the heart of the “old” Bobby Jones Golf Course property is the entirely new Murray Golf House overlooking the totally new reversible nine hole course. This new Clubhouse greets golfers, as well as provides offices for all major golfing entities of the state of Georgia.

Georgia’s Golf Hall of Fame, recognizing greats of the game, is the centerpiece of the facility. Golf Shop and 10th Hole Grill visitors have the pleasure of gazing upon displays celebrating golfing excellence of the past and present.

Two instructional facilities located opposite each other on the Practice Range provide three indoor/outdoor teaching spaces and a central Clubroom. The southernmost Golf Academy offers lessons to the public of all ages, while the northernmost facility hosts Georgia State University’s golf teams, special needs golfers, and camps for junior golfers.

Keeping the course in the best playable shape requires a base of operations close at hand. Maintenance equipment, a fleet of carts (including several special needs carts), and staff are housed discreetly behind a heavily-landscaped perimeter.

The inspiration for embarking on and recreating this remarkable property can be traced back to the legendary Bobby Jones himself, whose feats of excellence won him and the game new admirers even today – 80 years after his never matched 1939 Grand-Slam triumph.

Drawing from the Bobby Jones inspiration were world-renowned Bob Cupp and son Bobby Cupp, who served as Golf Course Architects and conceived the unique reversible nine-hole layout, one of only two such courses in the United States.
